Startup Drinks Edmonton on December 16, 2009!

Prairie Startup entrepreneurs, technologists and tech enthusiasts!  It’s time to start your engines, brave the newly minted snow and start networking at your very own Startup Drinks.   Thanks to Cam Linke (known to folks from his efforts at BarCamp and DemoCamp Edmonton) the first Startup Drinks in Edmonton will be held at The Hat (map) on December 16, 2009 from 5:30pm.  Cam assures me that the swanky decor is a bit misleading – it’s still laid back and reasonably priced, which is right in line with the Startup Drinks CA philosophy.

Pass on this information to anyone you think might be interested in this event.  As always, the more the merrier!

Startup Drinks Montreal – November 2009 RECAP

Montreal’s last Startup Drinks for 2009 was, like most of the year, a pretty lively one with over 40 people from every corner of the business.  We also had ring ins from Ottawa and Boston, which was great to see.   If you’ve got some of your own photos or got some love to show Startup Drinks CA, please throw it all in the comments or email me at robin@flowventures.com.

The Ottawa Business Journal tackles the importance of meeting your colleagues, candidates, investors, partners (i.e. everyone and anyone) in the flesh to complement your online social networking.  Ottawa’s thriving startup culture – 5 startups born per week, says the OCRI – has given rise to more events than you can poke a stick at.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Startup Drinks CA welcomes Vancouver and Moncton

Check out our latest additions, Startup Drinks Moncton and Startup Drinks Vancouver!

Moncton’s details are up now.  Your marching orders are to be at Vie Tapas and Lounge from 6pm on Wednesday, October 25.  I have it on good authority that the venue is very hot right now.

Vancouver’s first foray is deferred until the new year so keep your eyes on this space West Coast.

StartupDrinks Halifax is Nov. 18th

For this StartUpDrinks Halifax, we’re piggybacking on our Third Wednesday Social Media meetup. In January, we’ll organize something distinct for the startup community, but for now, please join us Wednesday, November 18th at the Foggy Goggle in Halifax, from 5-7pm.

There is no theme or discussion planned for this event, just a mixer for those in the business of internet communications and social media aficionados.

Waterloo details are up…

Before I get to my very first post, I just wanted to extend my thanks to both Raymond and Robin for getting this site up and running as quickly as they did. Thanks to them, StartupDrinks now has a Canadian home. Great job guys!

You’ll notice that we don’t have a logo yet, believe it or not, that is very much intentional. Stay tuned for more information on that.

It's Alive!

StartupDrinks.CA is up and running. Thanks to Dan Silivestru (@confusement) for all the help with the domain name. We’re hoping this will make it easier for all the StartupDrinks organizers across the country to have a regular place to announce their events and get the word out to the widest possible audience. If you want to start a StartupDrinks in your city or help out in some other way please contact me (@rayluk).

Stay tuned for more announcements. We have Montreal, Toronto, Waterloo, Ottawa and Fredericton confirmed for November StartupDrinks. We’re hoping to add more!
